Jets Place Jermaine Johnson on Injured Reserve, Sign DL Jalyn Holmes

A Look at the Jets' Roster Moves

Johnson's Injury

The New York Jets have placed outside linebacker Jermaine Johnson on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday. Johnson suffered a calf injury in the Jets' 24-9 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Johnson, a first-round pick by the Jets in the 2022 NFL Draft, has been a key part of the Jets' defense this season. He has started all three games this season and has recorded 10 tackles and one sack. Johnson was injured in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Jaguars. He left the game and did not return.

The Jets are expected to be without Johnson for at least four weeks. He will be eligible to return to practice after four weeks, but he will not be able to play in a game until Week 8 against the New England Patriots.

Holmes' Signing

The Jets also announced Tuesday that they have signed defensive lineman Jalyn Holmes. Holmes was most recently a member of the Las Vegas Raiders. He was waived by the Raiders on Monday.

Holmes has played in 46 career games, including 13 starts. He has recorded 79 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in his career. Holmes is expected to provide depth to the Jets' defensive line.
