Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the Munchausen-by-proxy survivor who gained worldwide attention for her case, has announced that she is expecting her first child with partner Anthony Urker. The announcement was made on Instagram, where Blanchard has over 163,000 followers. The post, which features a series of professional photos of the couple, has received over 207,000 likes and 6,000 comments. Blanchard also shared a mirror photo of herself on Instagram the day before, which is believed to be taken at the place she is currently residing.
Blanchard was released from prison in July 2023 after serving 10 years for her role in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, born July 27, 1991, was a non-terminally ill person who was treated as if she were terminally ill by her mother. Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, who has a rare medical condition called congenital muscular dystrophy, was forced to use a wheelchair and take numerous medications from her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. The severity of Gypsy-Rose's health problems was exaggerated or fabricated by Dee Dee Blanchard, who also made Gypsy-Rose undergo unnecessary medical procedures.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard's story gained national attention in 2015 when she and her boyfriend at the time, Nicholas Godejohn, were arrested for the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard. Godejohn was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison, while Gypsy Rose Blanchard was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Blanchard was initially expected to serve 25 years in prison, but the judge in her case reduced her sentence to 10 years due to her mental health issues and the fact that she had been a victim of abuse by her mother.
Blanchard's pregnancy was unexpected, but she and Urker are reportedly overjoyed. Urker has also shared the news on his own Instagram account, writing, "I'm so excited to be a dad! This is the best day of my life." The couple has not yet announced a due date for their baby.
