On June 6, 2024, world leaders and veterans will gather in Normandy, France, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the largest amphibious invasion in history.
The Battle of Normandy
D-Day was the start of the Battle of Normandy, which lasted for two months and resulted in the liberation of France from Nazi occupation. The invasion involved more than 150,000 Allied troops landing on the beaches of Normandy, supported by thousands of ships and aircraft.
Easy Red
One of the most famous D-Day objectives was Easy Red, a beach sector defended by German troops. Units of the US 29th and 1st Infantry Divisions landed at Easy Red and faced heavy resistance.
A Day of Remembrance
