NHL: Lightning Take 2-0 Series Lead with Game 2 Victory

Avalanche Stunned by Dominant Performance from Vasilevskiy

Game 3 Pivotal as Series Shifts to Denver

In a stunning turn of events, the Tampa Bay Lightning have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the 2022 Stanley Cup Final after crushing the Colorado Avalanche 6-2 in Game 2. The Avalanche, who were heavily favored to win the series, were outplayed in all facets of the game.

Andrei Vasilevskiy was a brick wall in net for the Lightning, stopping 35 of 37 shots and frustrating the Avalanche offense. Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, Colorado's top stars, were held scoreless.

Meanwhile, the Lightning offense exploded for five goals in the second period alone. Nikita Kucherov led the way with two goals and an assist, while Ondrej Palat and Alex Killorn each scored a goal and added an assist.

The Avalanche now face an uphill battle as the series shifts to Denver for Games 3 and 4. They will need to find a way to generate more offense and improve their defense if they want to avoid falling into a deeper hole.

Game 3 is set for Sunday night at Ball Arena in Denver. The Avalanche desperately need a victory to avoid putting themselves on the brink of elimination.
